Overview

Home Farm is a strategic planning project located within the small Oxfordshire village of Shellingford. The site comprised an existing farmhouse, traditional barns and redundant dairy buildings which no longer supported a viable agricultural use. Following several unsuccessful applications by the previous owner, Butler + Duke developed a phased planning strategy to unlock the site's potential.

Through a combination of access improvements, permitted development rights and a final betterment scheme, the proposals transformed the former agricultural site into a carefully considered collection of eight homes. The design re-establishes the character of a traditional farmstead, with cottages addressing the village street and larger barn-inspired homes set within the former agricultural setting.

Unlocking Potential

Following previous unsuccessful applications, Butler + Duke developed a phased planning strategy that unlocked the value of the former dairy site, transforming redundant agricultural buildings into a considered farmstead development.
